Silver Fish

Silver Fish

Also known as fishmoth; silverfish are considered household pests due to their consumption and destruction of property. These pests are also responsible for the contamination of food; however they do not transmit disease. Silverfish is a small, wingless insect that gets its name from its silvery light grey and blue color, combined with the fish-like appearance of its movements.

Silverfish inhabit moist areas, commonly attics, basements, bathtubs, sinks and showers. They feed on matter that contains polysaccharides such as book bindings, carpet, clothing, coffee, dandruff, glue, hair, paper, plaster and sugar. Silverfish can live a year or more without eating.

Silverfish do not bite humans and instantly flee to safety whenever disturbed. They hide during the day and scavenge for food at night. If you spot silverfish at your property, contact AMCO Pest Control immediately.

Silverfish populations grow exponentially and can be difficult to control. Our experienced specialist upon investigation of the infestation will develop and apply a safe and effective strategy to combat and completely eradicate the silverfish infestation.
